MANATEE SPRINGS on SUWANNEE RIVER

These photos BEST VIEWED with slideshow button in upper right. Photos taken at Manatee Springs on the Suwannee River in Florida. The spring is a natural spring flowing directly from the Florida Aquifer, the water is crystal clear and about 72 degrees year round, it flows into the Suwannee River. The fish jumping in the photos are Gulf Sturgeon, they can grow up to eight feet long and weigh up to 300 pounds. Gulf sturgeon can jump up to six feet out of the water and have injured and killed people over the years by colliding with boaters, water skiers and jet skiers.
